Dr David Hardwick Tribute
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Dr David Hardwick, our past president.
Dr Hardwick passed away on the 18th May 2009 after a long illness. Our thoughts are with his wife, Alison.
The Club will ensure that his efforts and commitment will be remembered:
- The Hardwick Award was initiated in 2006 which recognises an outstanding individual commitment thought a College Career.
- The Hardwick Trophy was initiated in 2008 and is awarded to the victors of the annual RCS vs C&G inter-faculty hockey match.
- This section of the website will enable tributes to be posted.
- A fuller obituary will follow on this page.
Your Memories
I was an IC student for 9 years, and now have been a university Lecturer for 9 years. Things are different on the other side of the fence. DH was a master of that fence - can anyone say they ever saw him first and foremost as "staff"? I don't think so. Some modern Universities lack that breed of compassionate friend, because we push for cold KPI. DH had his own KPI, which I only now really see. Engrave it deep in the anals of this club, and toast to DH at your annual dinner. My sympathies to Alison, and I hope the current whipper-snappers in the club can do something appropriate to honour her warmth and service.
